Resta alta la tensione in Israele, dove nella giornata del 26/02 un razzo proveniente dalla striscia di Gaza ha colpito la città di Ashkelon.
Il lancio del razzo, un Grad M75 gittata 30-40 km, è stato rivendicato dal gruppo denominato Brigata dei Martiri di Al-Aqsa, legata ad al-Fatah. L'arma ha colpito una strada di Ashkelon, 10 km a nord dal confine con la Striscia di Gaza, senza provocare feriti.
I miliziani della Brigata al-Aqsa hanno motivato il lancio come risposta alla morte di Arafat Jaradat, 30 anni, membro del movimento arrestato per aver lanciato alcune pietre contro le truppe israeliane e deceduto il 23 febbraio per cause sospette. Il fatto aveva già provocato diversi disordini in Cisgiordania tra la popolazione e le truppe israeliane. Un ragazzo di 13 anni e uno di 15 sono rimasti feriti durante gli scontri, quest'ultimo versa in gravi condizioni dopo essere stato colpito alla testa ed è stato immediatamente trasportato in ospedale.
